Crystallization and melting of the test item were not observed by experiments on the DSC conducted till - 90°C.

To further investigate the melting temperature of the test item, two subsamples of the test item were stored for 17 hours at -22.4 ± 0.7°C and at -82.4 ± 2.1°C respectively. It was observed after storage that the test item was a liquid (-20°C and -80°C freezer). According to this observation it was concluded that the melting temperature of the test item is < - 80°C (<193K).

Conclusions:
The freezing temperature of 1,2-dichloro-1-[difluoro(trifluoromethoxy)methoxy]-1,2,2-trifluoroethane was determined at < -80°C (< 193K) by applying a storage experiment in the freezer.
Executive summary:

The melting temperature of 1,2-dichloro-1-[difluoro(trifluoromethoxy)methoxy]-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (CAS 874288 -98 -9) was initially investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The test was performed according to the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals no. 102: "Melting Point / Melting Range", July 27, 1995 and was GLP compliant.

However, crystallization and melting of the test item were not observed by experiments on the DSC conducted betwenn -90°C and 250°C. Therefore an additional test was conducted in which two subsamples of the test item were placed overnight in a freezer at -20°C and -80°C, respectively.

The freezing temperature of 1,2-dichloro-1-[difluoro(trifluoromethoxy)methoxy]-1,2,2-trifluoroethane was determined at < -80°C (< 193K) by applying a storage experiment in the freezer.

The melting point of the test item was conducted with Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to recognized guidelines (OECD Guideline 102,EU Method A.1 and EPA OPPTS 830.7200) and GLP.
