During the main study the DSC-cell was opened in an ambient environment at a celltemperature of 0°C during the transfer of the sample container into the cell. This low temperature was selected to avoid evaporation of the test item as much as possible but within the time the cell was open, water had condensated into the cell causing exothermic and endothermic effects between -50°C and 50°C when cooling and heating the sample.

Experiment 6: During cooling small exothermic effects were observed. These effects were caused by the crystallization of the condensation water described above. During heating an endothermic peak between 50°C and 100°C was observed. The extrapolated onset temperature of the peak was 72.794°C. The effect was most likely obtained due to boiling of the test item. After the experiment it was observed that the test item had evaporated from the sample container.

Experiment 7: To further investigate the endothermic peak between 50°C and 100°C a closed sample container was applied in the Experiment 7. At the start of the experiment, the container was hermetically closed. During heating, pressure in the container rose and as a result the container bursted a little open. At that moment, a boiling peak was observed. The extrapolated onset temperature of the boiling peak was 111.455°C. It was observed that the endothermic peak had shifted to a higher temperature. It demonstrated that boiling of the test item was the reason for the endothermic effect. After the experiment it was observed that the test item had evaporated from the sample container. The effect between 225°C and 275°C was only observed in Experiment 7 and therefore not considered to be test item related.

Experiment 8: Experiment 8 was performed as a duplicate of boiling point temperature determination of the test item. The temperature program was similar to the program of Experiment 6. Similar results as in Experiment 6 were obtained in Experiment 8. The extrapolated onset of the boiling peak was 72.149°C. After the experiment it was observed that the test item had evaporated from the sample container.

The boiling temperature was determined as the average boiling temperature obtained from Experiment 6 (72.794°C) and Experiment 8 (72.149°C).

Conclusions:
The boiling temperature of MOVE3 ADDUCT was determined at 72°C (346K) by using DSC. The atmospheric pressure was 1011 ± 1 hPa.
Executive summary:

The boiling temperature of 1,2-dichloro-1-[difluoro(trifluoromethoxy)methoxy]-1,2,2-trifluoroethane (CAS 874288 -98 -9) was determined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The test was performed according to the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals no. 102: "Melting Point / Melting Range", July 27, 1995 and was GLP compliant.

The boiling temperature of the test item is evaluated from the DSC curve as the extrapolated onset temperature of the endothermic melting peak.

The boiling temperature of 1,2-dichloro-1-[difluoro(trifluoromethoxy)methoxy]-1,2,2-trifluoroethane was determined at 72°C (349K) by using DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry).

One reliable study (Klimisch 1) is available. The boiling point of the test item was determined with Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to recognized guidelines (OECD Guideline 103,EU Method A.2 and EPA OPPTS 830.7220) and GLP.
