Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
- Eye contact : In case of eye contact, immediately rinse with clean water for 10-15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
- Skin contact : Wash skin thoroughly with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention if any ill irritation develops.
- Inhalation : Assure fresh air breathing. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek medical advice.
- Ingestion : Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention if ill effect or irritation develops.
Fire-fighting measures
Prevention : Keep away from combustible material
- Suitable extinguishing media : Large quantity of water.
- Unsuitable extinguishing media : Water spray.
Specific hazards : May accelerate the burning of other combustible materials. Contact with combustible material may cause fire. On contact with moist air and of water, may liberate toxic gases (SO2).
Protection against fire : Tight protective clothing required.
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots and thick rubber gloves.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions : Spill should be handled by trained cleaning personnel properly equipped with respiratory and eye protection.
Safety glasses.
Keep public away from danger area.
Environmental precautions : Prevent entry to sewers, soils and natural waters.
After spillage and/or leakage : Avoid : Moisture.
Remove ignition sources. Hydrolyses with time (guranteed shelf life = 2 months).
Collect spill when it's dry.
On land, sweep or shovel into suitable containers.
Handling and storage
Storage - away from : Oxidizing material, acids, moisture, water or all heat sources.
General : Store and handle as though always a serious potential fire/explosion and health hazard exists.
Precautions in handling and storage : Avoid all unnecessary exposure. Both local exhaust and good general room ventilation must be provided not only to control exposure but also to prevent formation of flammable mixtures.
Storage : Keep container closed when not in use. Store in tightly closed containers.
Store in dry, cool, well-ventilated area. Keep away from any acid and of oxidizing material.
Handling : Wash hands plentifully and other exposed areas with water after handling.
Handle empty containers with care because residual dusts are flammable.

Exposure controls / personal protection
- Hand protection : Use rubber gloves.
- Skin protection : Wear impervious rubber safety shoes.
Rubber Apron.
Skin protection appropriate to the conditions of use should be provided.
Wear long sleeves.
- Eye protection : Safety glasses.
- Respiratory protection : Where excessive dust may result, wear anti-dust mask.
- Ingestion : When using, do not eat, drink or smoke.
Industrial hygiene : Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.
TLV : No data available.
Stability and reactivity
Hazardous reactions : Reacts with : acids Water.
Reacts violently with : Oxidizing agent.
Materials to avoid : Sodium Chlorite. Oxidizing agent. Acids
Hot water.
Hazardous properties : Above 50°C
Hazardous decomposition products : (sulfur dioxide). ( SO2)
May decompose upon contact with heat and moisture.
