The substance does not contain a surplus of oxygen or any structural groups known to be correlated with a tendency to react exothermally with combustible material (in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, Column 2, Section 7.13). Therefore the substance can be designated as non-oxidising substance.

Justification for classification or non-classification
Sodium dithionite does not need to be classified according to CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 since oxidising properties are considered non-relevant based on the chemical structure.
