Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

According to the EU Risk Assessment (2004) no adsorption onto the organic fraction of soil or sediments is expected, due to the ionic structure under environmental relevant pH conditions. In addition, according to the monitoring data of Virtapohja (2000) (please refer to chapter 5.5.1 of this dossier) the concentration of adsorbed EDTA in the sediment is neglible. However, the mortality of Tubifex tubifex on acid EDTA and Na2EDTA was examined in a non guideline study (Jancovic & Mann, 1969), for justification of read-across see chapter 13 of this dossier. The 24h LC100 values ranged between 380 mg/L for acid EDTA and 2000 mg/L for Na2EDTA. As these high values are not expected to occur under natural conditions in the sediment, no risk to sediment dwelling organisms is considered.
