Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Partitioning of substances into the different environmental compartments depends mainly on their physico-chemical properties. Since the water solubility of Tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (and other subcategory 1 members) is high and the log Pow and KOC values are low, the substance is expected to mainly distribute to the water phase. As subcategory 1 members are biodegradable under enhanced conditions, they will not be persistent in the environment. Tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (and the other subcategory 1 members) is not expected to evaporate into the atmosphere due to the low vapor pressure. If entering the atmosphere, Tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (and the other subcategory 1 members) will be rapidly degraded by photochemical processes. Thus, long-range transport through the atmospheric compartment is not expected. Abiotic hydrolysis is not relevant, since the substances are biodegradable and neither strong acids nor alkalis cause any degradation. Based on the low lipophility and experimental data relevant uptake and bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms is not expected.
