Additional information

The environmental toxicity of HFS acid is driven by fluoride, which is liberated following the dissociation of the substance in water. Other components (silicates) are unlikely to have any adverse effects in the environment, while effects on pH are unlikley to occur at relevant exposure levels. Read-across to other water-souble inorganic fluoride conpounds is therefore appropriate and PNECs are derived based on the extensive database for fluoride compounds.
