Description of key information

The respiration inhibition of the surrogate test substance (CAS 1324-29-4) to the bacteria Pseudomonas putida was investigated in a guideline study (BASF AG 1991) following German standard DIN 38412, part 27 (1992). After a 30 min exposure period, an EC10 of 250 mg/L (nominal) was determined.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
8 120 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
250 mg/L

Additional information

The respiration inhibition of the test substance to the bacteria Pseudomonas putida was investigated in a guideline study (BASF AG, 1991) following German standard DIN 38412, part 27 (1992). No concentrations of the test substance were measured and no results with reference substance were determined. After a 30 min exposure period, an EC10 of 250 mg/L (nominal) was determined.

Comparable results were obtained with the close structural analogue CAS 1324-29-4 in a supporting study (Ciba-Geigy, 1989) following OECD 209 with domestic activated sludge. After the 3 hour exposure period an IC20 > 100 mg/L (nominal) was determined.
