Description of key information

The ready biodegradability was tested in study (Ciba-Geigy Ltd., 1989) according to OECD 301B (1992) with the close structural analogue substance CAS 1324-29-4. After the 28 day incubation period a degradation rate of 1 -3 % was observed. The test substance is considered to be not ready biodegradable under the test conditions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of the substance was tested in study (Ciba-Geigy Ltd., 1989) according to OECD 301B (1992) with the close structural analogue substance CAS 1324-29-4. The biodegradation rate was determined by measuring the CO2 evolution of domestic activated sludge at test substance concentrations of 11 mg/L and 20.6 mg/L, respectively. The biodegradation of the reference substance (aniline) was determined to be 84.2 % in 28 days. The validity criteria were fulfilled. After the 28 day incubation period a degradation rate of 1 - 3 % was observed. The test substance is considered to be not ready biodegradable under the test conditions.
