Description of key information

Anhydrous dimethyl sulphate is not corrosive to metals.

Additional information

A literature review was conducted. In a weight of evidence approach the literature values were evaluated. HSDB reports the substance to be corrosive to metals in the presence of water. The BAM-List (Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing) reports that steels and aluminium can be used for transportation of the test substance since the material is water and acid-free.

Therfore the substance or mixture does not need to be classified as corrosive to metals according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
