Structural analysis has been performed to identify potential explosophores. 

The following structures are considered to have a potential to impart explosive properties on a substance: 

–N=N– and –N−=N+=N−– 

–NO2, –ON=O and –ONO2 

–C=N–O– 

–O–O– and –O3– 

–C≡C-   Other structural groups include organo metals.  

None of these structures are present in BPA 3PO. Propylene oxide does, however, fit into the -O-O- (epoxide) group, but due to the reactivity, this starting material does not exist as an impurity in the finished substance.
