Conclusion on classification

1,4 -Butynediol (B3D) is not classified as hazardous to the aquatic environment according to the criteria laid out in Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or in Directive 67/548/EEC based on a 48 hour EC50 in invertebrates (Daphnia magna) of 26.8 mg/L (BASF, 1987), a 96 hour LC50 in freshwater fish (Pimephales promelas) of 53.6 mg/L (Veith, et. al., 1989), a 21-day NOEC of 15 mg/L (Daphnia magna), a LogKow of -0.73, and a BCF of 3.16 L/kg.
