Additional information

Available information on the fate of 1,4-Butynediol in the environment indicates that the substance will not persist or bioaccumulate. It is readily biodegradable, is not expected to hydrolyze, and degrades in the atmosphere through reaction with OH-radicals with little or no potential for long-range transport. If released to soil, it has the potential to rapidly migrate to groundwater due to its low Koc, however rapid biodegradation will mitigate this movement.
