First-aid measures

General advice:

Immediately remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.

On skin contact:

Immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water, seek medical attention.

On contact with eyes:

Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye

specialist.

On ingestion:

Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

dry powder, foam, water spray

Specific hazards:

formaldehyde

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Collect contaminated extinguishing water separately, do not allow to reach sewage or effluent

systems.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Breathing protection required. Sources of ignition should be kept well clear.

Methods for cleaning up or taking up:

For small amounts: Contain with absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, general purpose

binder, sawdust).

For large amounts: Contain with absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, general purpose

binder, sawdust).

Handling and storage

Handling

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Protection against fire and explosion:

Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Sources of ignition should be kept well clear.

Storage

Suitable materials for containers: Stainless steel 1.4306 (V2A)

Storage stability:

Keep only in the original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from ignition sources, heat

or flame.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Respiratory Protection:

Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A)

Hand protection:

Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374)

Suitable materials short-term contact and/or splashes (recommended: At least protective index 2, corresponding > 30 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374)

butyl rubber (butyl) - 0.7 mm coating thickness

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles (splash goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

General safety and hygiene measures:

Wearing of closed work clothing is recommended. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Corrosion to metals:

No corrosive effect on metal.

Formation of flammable gases:

Remarks: Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.

Chemical stability

Possibility of hazardous reactions

May decompose violently.

Conditions to avoid

Avoid heat.

Incompatible materials

Substances to avoid:

acids

Hazardous decomposition products:

formaldehyde

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Incinerate in suitable incineration plant, observing local authority regulations.
