Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

In the non-GLP Klimisch 1 study from Bütfering (2012), the flammability of Butanedioic acid, 2(or 3)-sulfo-, 4-[2-[(1-oxo(C12-C18(even numbered) and C18unsaturated)alkyl))amino]ethyl]esters, disodium salts was determined according to EU method A.10. The test item was formed into a particle train. A hot flame from a gas burner with a diameter of about 6 mm is used to ignite the pile at one end. In the preliminary screening test the substance does ignite and shows slow combustion propagating along the train. After a distance of about 30 mm in 1 minute the flame ceased. Therefore the combustion is beyond the specified time frame for flammability of 4 minutes for 200 mm.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, method A.10., the test item is not considered as flammable.
