Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Green liquor sludge is an inorganic UVCB substance. Determination of a dissociation constant for GLS is not technically justifiable, since the true composition of the constituents is variable and not well known. On the other hand the known major dissociable constituents are inorganic salts, carbonates, sulfates and tiosulfates etc., and determination of Ka/b values for these constituents is not necessary since the information is already available in handbooks. Therefore it is not seen technically and scientifically justified to perform the test for a substance like GLS.
