Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Type of information:
read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)

For details on endpoint specific justification please see read-across report in section 13 or find a link in cross-reference “assessment report”.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
assessment report
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:

Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Remarks on result:
other: 95% confidence interval: 1237 to 2461 mg/L
Duration:

Effect conc.:
1 000 mg/L
Nominal / measured:

Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
LOEC
Effect conc.:
1 800 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Details on results:
Due to the identical molecular weight of source and target substance, the effect concentrations for the source substance are also valid for the target substance without further adjustment.
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
According to OECD 203 adopted July 1992
Conclusions:
Based on nominal concentrations of the source substance 1,6-hexane diamine (HMD; CAS No. 124-09-4), the LC50 (96 h) for fish (Pimephales promelas) determined in a study equivalent to OECD 203 with adaptation of pH is 1825 mg/L (95% CI: 1237-2461), with no effect observed at 1000 mg/L. Because of the identical molecular weight this directly applies to the target substance MPMD.
Executive summary:

The study used as source investigated the acute toxicity to freshwater fish (Pimephales promelas). The study results of the source compound were considered applicable to the target compound and were used for classification and labelling acc. to REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008. Justification and applicability of the read-across approach (structural analogue) is outlined in the read-across report in section 13 or find a link in cross reference “assessment report”.
