Description of key information

No self-ignition possible

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since ferrous slags are inert inorganics with all relevant analytes in their most stable oxidation state, further oxidation will not occur spontaneously. Ferrous slags are formed at temperatures of >1000 °C and even if oxidizable material would be present (graphite, traces of metal), due to its generation slag cannot undergo self-ignition.
