Key result
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
Does not ignite on contact with air.

The test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with air. Moreover the test substance was handled under normal laboratory conditions during this project. It demonstrated that the test substance does not ignite in contact with air. Any impurities were not taken into account.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test substance has no pyrophoric properties.
Executive summary:

The test substance has no pyrophoric properties.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Type of information:
other: statement
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From 11 to 18 January 2010
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Statement based on experience in handling the test substance according GLP.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.12 (Flammability (Contact with Water))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Remarks on result:
no reaction with water observed
Remarks:
Does not ignite or emit flammable gas in contact with water.

The test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with water and/or to the evolution of a flammable gas. Moreover the test substance was dissolved in water during the determination of the surface tension. It demonstrated that the test substance does not ignite spontaneously in contact with water. Any impurities were not taken into account.

Interpretation of results:

Additional information

Flammability on contact with water:

The test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with water and/or to the evolution of a flammable gas. Moreover the test substance was dissolved in water during the determination of the surface tension. It demonstrated that the test substance does not ignite spontaneously in contact with water. Any impurities were not taken into account.

Pyrophoricity:

The test substance does not contain groups that might lead to ignition in contact with air. Moreover the test substance was handled under normal laboratory conditions during this project. It demonstrated that the test substance does not ignite in contact with air. Any impurities were not taken into account.

Flammability:

Addressed by flash point study.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test substance does not ignite in contact with air.

Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 Table 2.9.1 the substance shall not be classified as pyrophoric liquid.

The flash point of the test substance is 62 ℃ (thus > 60 ℃).

Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 Table 2.6.1 the substance shall not be classified as flammable liquid.
