Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance is inorganic. Due to its very low water solubility and its inert character the substance is not expected to be bioavailable to sediment organisms. This is supported by the toxicological and ecotoxicological effect data.

However, transformation/dissolution tests, demonstrated that small amounts of the individual inorganic building blocks of this substance (i.e., the metal ions Cr and Sb) are released in aqueous media. The concentrations of Cr and Sb after the release from the substance are far below the Ecotoxicological Reference Values and thus an impact on aquatic and sediment organisms is not to be expected. As a result, the determination of PNEC levels for C.I. Pigment Brown 24 that are based on ecotoxicological studies cannot be conducted.
