Zinc dibutyldithiocarbamate is identified as potentially persistent. However, significant and substantial abiotic degradation occurs via hydrolysis. It is concluded that the major transformation products, dibutylamine and carbon disulfide, are not PBT nor vPvB substances, no further testing of degradation is required for the PBT/vPvB assessment.

With an log Kow of 7.04, the substance is considered to be bioaccumulative.

Long-term toxicity (NOECs) of the read-across substance zinc bis(dimethyldithiocarbamate) (Cas no: 137-30-4) is 0.039 mg/L, 0.101 mg/L, and 0.28 for invertebrates, fish, and algae, respectively.
