Description of key information

Read across from L-arginine to L-arginine-HCl is performed.

L-arginine showed 100% degradation (HPLC) after 28 days in a study according to OECD 301C and therefore can be considered as readily biodegradable.

The supporting studies also indicate that L-arginine is readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

L-arginine is appropriate for read-across to L-arginine-HCl (see toxicokinetic statement).

L-arginine showed 100% degradation (HPLC) after 28 days in a GLP study according to guideline OECD 301C and therefore can be considered as readily biodegradable.

The experimental results of the supporting studies also indicate that L-arginine is readily biodegradable.

Concludingly, L-arginine-HCL can be considered as readily biodegradable.
