Description of key information

A study for the endpoint ‘carcinogenicity’ is not required according to REACH Annex X, 8.9.1.  It was concluded in the genetic toxicity section that the substance does cause chromosomal aberrations in vitro in the presence of metabolic activation, however this potential for genetic toxicity was not confirmed in in vivo studies, so it was concluded that trimethoxy(vinyl)silane (CAS 2768-02-7; EC No. 220-449-8) is not mutagenic. Following annex X, 8.9.1 no studies for carcinogenic effects are required for substances that are not mutagenic.
