Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No information is available for phototransformation in water.

This is not expected to be a significant removal process for trimethoxy(vinyl)silane (CAS 2768-02-7; EC No. 220-449-8) or vinylsilanetriol (CAS 143-48-6).

Experiments carried out for dimethylsilanediol (CAS 1066-42-8, EC No. 213-915-7) indicate that water soluble small molecule silanols will undergo aqueous photolytic oxidative demethylation with tropospheric ultraviolet radiation in the presence of suitable chromophores, such as nitrogen oxides, to give silicic acid and carbon dioxide (Buch et al 1984).

Whilst such degradation is possible for vinylsilanetriol, it is not taken into account in the exposure assessment.
