Description of key information

It can be concluded that soil simulation testing is not required based on the unlikely exposure of soil organisms to the DMDMH product or its degradation product (DMH) based on the unlikely direct exposure to soil, and rapid biodegradability in the environment.

Waiver. In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex IX section 9.2.1.3 column 2, a soil simulation testing study is not required as the substance is readily biodegradable. For information, a ready biodegradability test has been performed with DMH (degradation product of DMDMH) which shows 87% biodegradability passing the 10 day-window criteria, therefore there is no requirement for an aerobic degradation study in soil. In addition the PEC/PNEC ratio using the equilibrium partitioning method calculated for the terrestrial compartment indicates no concern.
