EC number: 227-813-5
CAS number: 5989-27-5
The measured values for the reference
Flash point of butanol: 36.0°C and 36.0°C
Flash point of N,N dimethylformamide: 58.1°C
Flash point of Setaflash Certified Material
99878 -3: 74.3°C and 75.0°C
The measured values for the test item were :
51.3 °C and 51.1 °C.
According to the Standard Test Method ASTM D
3828 -97 the precision of the method is for a flash point of 149°C as
The flash point was determined with a closed
cup tester by an equilibrium method "Small Scale", commonly known as
Setaflash where the vapours are deemed to be in temperature equilibrium
with the liquid. The study was based on the procedures indicated by the
following internationally accepted methods:
- ASTM D 3828 -97: Standard Test Methods for
Flash Point by Small Scale Closed Tester.
- EU method Part A, A.9
Two measurements were performed.
The flash point of the substnace D-LIMONENE
has been measured as 51°C.
The flash point of d-limonene was reported
in The Dictionary of Substances and Their Effects as being 48°C.
The flash point temperature of l-limonene
was reported to be 48°C in the Priority Existing Chemical Assessment
Report No. 22 of the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and
Assessment Scheme (NICNAS).
The flash point of D-LIMONENE is 51°C.
The flash point of D-LIMONENE was determined
in a study performed according to ASTM D 3828-97 method and EU method
The value was considered with a reliability
of 2 (reliable with restrictions) because the result is scientifically
acceptable but not obtained under GLP and some details were lacking in
the report. However the measured flash point is valid for key value and
is supported by similar data from secondary literature.
