Endpoint:
toxicity to soil microorganisms
Type of information:
read-across based on grouping of substances (category approach)
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Justification for type of information:
The ecotoxical risk was assessed by evaluating all relevant studies on zinc and zinc salt.
The report can be assumed as a reliable base for determining the soil toxicity of bis(pentane-2,4-dionato) zinc as the toxicity is only determined by the zinc moiety of the molecule.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The PNEC for soil is determined to be 26 mg/kg dw.
The proportion of zinc in bis(pentane-2,4-dionato) zinc is 24.8 %. Thus it can be concluded that the PNEC for soil for the test substance might be higher but not lower than 26 mg/kg dw.
