Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The original chosen volume ratio of octanol to water was divided by three for a second test and multiplied by three for a third test. According to the guideline the dividing and multiplying factor should be two.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
flask method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water

Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
0.2
Temp.:
22 °C
pH:
7
Conclusions:
The average measured log Kow value for bis(pentane-2,4-dionato-O,O’) zinc as calculated from the test was 0.2.
Executive summary:

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water (Kow) of bis(pentane-2,4-dionato-O,O’) zinc was determined using the shake flask method . The Kow test was performed according to OECD guideline 107 with one modification, the original chose volume ratio of octanol to water was divided by three and multiplied by three. The data on the partition coefficient can be used to predict the adsorption on soil and sediments and for establishing quantitative structure-activity relationships for a wide range of biological effects.

The average measured log Kow value for bis(pentane-2,4-dionato-O,O’) zinc as calculated from the test was 0.2.
