Justification for type of information:
The chemical safety assessment does not indicate the need to investigate further the effects on aquatic organisms. Reactive Brown 49 has shown no signs of toxicity when tested in acute tests at three trophic levels (fish, algae and daphnia) at limit concentrations of 100 mg/l. Furthermore, it is known that Reactive Brown 49 hydrolyses considerably under environmental conditions (pH 7) in the aquatic environment with a half-life of only 2.7 days. Therefore, the substance is not expected to be present in the aquatic system for a longer time.
