Description of key information

Reactive Brown 49 has been tested for toxicity towards fish, invertebrates (daphnia), aquatic plants (algae) and sewage sludge bacteria and was found not being toxic to any of these trophic levels.

The results are-

LC50(Brachydanio rerio, 96h): >100 mg/l

EC50(Daphnia magna, 48h): >100 mg/l

EC50(Scenedesmus subspicatus, 72h): >100 mg/l

IC50(sewage sludge bacteria, 3h): > 1000 mg/l

Additional information

Furthermore, it is known that Reactive Brown 49 hydrolyses considerably under environmental conditions (pH 7) in the aquatic environment with a half-life of only 2.7 days. Therefore, the substance can be regarded as rapidly degradable in the aquatic environment (according to CLP/GHS criteria) and is not expected to be present in the aquatic system for a longer time.
