Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Parent compound: neodecanoyl chloride: Accumulation in organisms is unlikely.
Hydrolysis product: neodecanoic acid: Significant accumulation in organisms is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Neodecanoyl chloride has an estimated log Kow of 3.35 (BASF SE, 2009). The corresponding BCF estimate is 74.9 (BASF SE, 2009), therefore significant accumulation in organisms is unlikely. However the test substance rapidly hydrolyses and forms neodecanoic acid. Hence, the BCF-estimate may be of low relevance.

The hydrolysis product neodecanoic acid has an estimated log Kow of 3.9 (BASF SE, 2009). Therefore, based on log Kow moderate accumulation in organisms is possible. However, the BCF was estimated to be 3.16 (BASF SE, 2009) and ca. 7 (BASF SE, 2010) using BCFBAF v3.00 and Catabol - BCF base-line model (v01.04), respectively. Based on these BCF-estimates, significant accumulation in organisms is not expected.
