- Justification:
Due to the rapid hydrolysis of the parent compound neodecanoyl chloride (CAS 40292-82-8), the environmental assessment is mainly based on its hydrolysis product neodecanoic acid (CAS 26896-20-8). Since neodecanoic acid is not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria) it should be regarded as potentially P/vP from a precautionary point of view until further data become available.Neodecanoic acidis not B/vB since it has a log Kow less than 3 at environmentally relevant pH (log Kow = 2.1 at pH 6.7; see IUCLID chapter 4.7). Neodecanoic acid is not T as the screening criteria for T are not fulfilled, based on the lowest available acute value being > 0.1 mg/L (fish: 96-h LC50 = 37.2 mg/L).
In conclusion, the parent compound neodecanoyl chloride (CAS 40292-82-8) is considered to be neither PBT nor vPvB, based on the available data for the hydrolysis product neodecanoic acid (CAS 26896-20-8).
