Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Dipropylene glycol methyl ether (DPM), tripropylene glycol monomethyl ether (TPM) and methanol (sodium methanolate hydrolysis product) are readily biodegradable and have very low potential for bioaccumulation (log Kow<1). The risk characterisation shows that the PEC/PNEC ratio for freshwater is clearly <1 with a PNEC derived with acute data on three trophic level. According to REACH Annex IX requirements, long-term toxicity testing shall only be considered when the chemical safety assessment indicates the need for further investigations. Hence, long-term testing in fish can be waived for the glycol ethers heavies mixture.
