adsorption / desorption: screening
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient and the adsorption potential of this substance is related to this parameter

Description of key information

The log Kow of 2-oxepanone, polymer with 1,4-butanediol is reported to be 2.5 (see Section 4.7, partition coefficient). According to Column 2 of Annex IX of the REACH regulation, no study is required if the log Kow is low as the substance can be expected to have a low potential for adsorption to soil. In addition the test substance and any breakdown products are expected to decompose rapidly in the environment due to ready biodegradability. Given this further information is not required.
