Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of Annex VIII (section 9.3.1) and Annex IX (section 9.3.3) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, the study on adsorption/desorption screening and further studies on adsorption/desorption, do not need to be conducted if on the basis of the physical-chemical properties the substance is expected to have a low potential for adsorption (e.g. the substance has a low octanol/water partition coefficient). Since the partition coefficient of sodium ethylenesulphonate indicated a log Pow of -1.01 no potential for adsorption is expected and thus, the conduct of an absorption/desorption study is not needed.
