- Executive summary:
The freezing point of the test substance was determined under GLP according to OECD 102/EU A1/BS4633 guidelines, using a method to determine the crystallising point.
Duplicate deteminations were performed, and the mean final temperature was retained.
The freezing temperature of test substance was determined to be 13.5°C.
Reference
In duplicate determinations, the test item was observed to freeze at 13.5˚C (mean of 14.0˚C and 13.0˚C), as indicated by crystallisation and a plateau in the cooling curve over 5 consecutive readings (2 minutes) at this temperature. Seeding was required just before the crystallisation point to prevent supercooling.
No temperature correction was required for thermometer error and the duplicate determinations were within the estimated accuracy of the method (± 0.5°C).
