- The flash point of the test substance is above the classification thresholds of 60 °C (CLP criteria) or 93°C (GHS criteria). Therefore, the test substance is NOT a flammable liquid according to CLP and GHS criteria.
- Executive summary:
The flash point of the test substance was determined under GLP according to EU A.9 guideline, using a closed cup method with Setaflash apparatus.
After a screening determination, two main runs were performed, and found consistent. The average result was retained, and rounded down to the nearest integer.
The flash point of the test substance has been determined to be147°C.
Reference
In a first test, the temperature was increased by successive steps of +5.0 °C, using 4 mL of sample. Flashing occurred at 150 °C.
The procedure was reproduced using a new 4.0 mL sample for each replicate test, and the temperature was regularly increased by successive steps of 0.5 °C. Flashing occurred at 147.5 °C and 148.0 °C successively. The mean value for flash point was calculated out from the two replicate measurements. Mean flash point = 147.8 °C ± 0.4 °C
Reference material: diethyl-phthalate. Nominal flash point = 159 ±3 °C. Measured flash point = 162.0 °C.
