Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point of CAS# 756-12-7 is -93 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The melting point of CAS# 756-12-7 was evaluated in two studies. In the key study, the melting point was determined to be -93 °C by freezing the material in a small glass vial in a liquid nitrogen cooled isopentane bath, and then allowing natural warming of the system and observing the melting behavior in increments. This study did not follow an accepted guideline nor was conducted under GLP guidelines. Therefore, the study is considered reliable with restriction. In another study, melting point was determined to be < -80 °C which supports the key study results. Since the key study sites a specific value for melting point, rather than an upper limit for melting, a melting point of -93 °C is the preferred value. Both studies demonstrate that the test substance has a melting point less than any environmentally relevant temperature.
