Description of key information

The boiling point of CAS# 756-12-7 is 26.9°C at 760 mm Hg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The boiling point of CAS# 756-12-7 was evaluated in three studies. In the key study, the boiling point was determined by a static method equivalent to OECD 104 and EEC directive 92/69 EEC, Annex V, Part A.4. In the second study, the boiling point was determined to be 26 °C at 990.8 hPa and was conducted in accordance with OECD TG 103 and is compliant with GLP standards and is classified as reliable without restriction. In the third study, boiling point was determined to be 26.5 °C at 760 mm Hg which supports the key study results. The third study follows ASTM E-1719-97 and ASTM D1120-94. The key study is the preferred value due to the careful degassing steps performed by the testing laboratory. Errors in vapor pressure measurements are typically biased toward higher readings due to the effect of complications with dissolved gases such as air. This effect is exacerbated in fluids with high solubility for gases, most notably fluorochemicals such as CAS# 756-12-7.
