Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test O.1 (Test for oxidizing solids)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The wire diameter and resistance deviate slightly from the UN method, because a wire with the specification stated in UN O.1 is commercially not available, but provides the same electrical power with a voltage of 15.6 V and an electric current of 9.6 A.
GLP compliance:
no

Interpretation of results:
Category 3 (oxidising solids) based on GHS criteria
Conclusions:
The mixture the 4:1 ratio of test substance L-Tyrosine, N-acetyl-3,5-dinitro- shows a short-er mean burning time than the 1:1 ratio.
The mean burning time of the test substance mixture (4:1) was less the mean burning time of the mixture of reference substance and cellulose (3:7).
Therefore, the test substance L-Tyrosine, N-acetyl-3,5-dinitro- is classified to be oxidising and the criteria for determining oxidizing properties of the substance is:
Packing group III:
Any test item which, in the 4:1 or 1:1 test item-to-cellulose ratio (by mass) tested, exhibits a mean burning time equal to or less than the mean burning time of a 3:7 mixture (by mass) of potassium bromate and cellulose; and which does not meet the criteria for packing groups I and II.
The same definition applies for the classification according to CLP. Thus the test substance is classified as oxidising solid category 3 according to CLP.

Description of key information
