Description of key information

Aquatic toxicity data of fatty acids, C9-C13-neo, barium salts are not available. Read-across to the assessment entities soluble barium substances and neodecanoic acid (structural analogue of fatty acids, C9-13 neo) is applied. Based on measured total Ba-levels in the water column, a 96-h LC50 of > 97.5 mg Ba/L (corresponding to > 3.5 mg dissolved Ba/L) is reported for fish whereas the 96-h LL50 for O. mykiss is > 100 mg/L (measured) neodecanoic acid (structural analogue of fatty acids, C9-C13 neo), indicating a low toxic potential to freshwater fish.
