Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Aquatic toxicity data of fatty acids, C9-C13-neo, barium salts are not available. Read-across to the assessment entities soluble barium substances and neodecanoic acid (structural analogue of fatty acids, C9-13 neo) is applied. Based on dissolved barium concentrations in solution, the ErC50 and NOEC for growth inhibition of algae are >1.15 and >=1.15 mg Ba/L, respectively. Data of neodecanoic acid point to a low toxic potential to freshwater algae with a 72-h EL50 (growth) of >100 mg/L. Thus, fatty acids, C9-C13-neo, barium salts is expected to have a low potential for toxicity to algae.
