Studies evaluating the short term toxicity of the substance to aquatic organisms are available for three trophic levels (fish, aquatic invertebrates, algae). An LC50 (96 h) of 0.205 mg/L (geom. mean meas.) was found for fish, an EC50 (48 h) of 11.3 mg/L (arithm. mean meas.) for aquatic invertebrates and an ErC50 (72 h) of 69.2 mg/L (geom. mean meas.) for algae.

Long term toxicity data are available for aquatic invertebrates and algae with a respective NOEC (21 d) of 3.2 mg/L (arithm. mean meas.) and ErC10 (72 h) of 30.2 mg/L (geom. mean meas.).

The substance did not cause inhibition of activated sludge microorganisms, as indicated by the toxicity control of the study on ready biodegradability. A NOEC (28 d) of3 mg/L (nominal) was determined. Therefore, inhibition of the degradation process in sewage treatment plants is not expected.
