Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Cyclohexanone peroxide is a mixture of organic peroxides that are solid and are unstable neat. It is only marketed in formulations.

The melting point and boiling point of cyclohexanone peroxide are waived due to decomposition.

The relative density of cyclohexanone peroxide, 30% in dimethyl phthalate and diacetone alcohol (a commercial formulation) at 20°C is 1.1504. Note that cyclohexanone peroxide cannot be handled safely in pure form, so measurement of the neat density is waived.

The vapor pressure of a commercially marketed formulation has been measured (1.94 kPa @ 20) as the neat organic peroxide constituents are not stable.

The partition coefficient log Pow value for cyclohexanone peroxide as determined experimentally is 1.2.

The water solubility of cyclohexanone peroxide is 9.3 g/L at 25 °C.

Cyclohexanone peroxide (50 % formulation as tested) is classified as an Organic Peroxide Type D. The substance has no explosive and no oxidising properties.

The Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) of the substances is 50 °C (reference SADT: CLP regulations 2.15.2.3 and UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition, sub-sections 28.1, 28.2, 28.3 and Table 28.3.).
