Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From 9 January 2003 to 14 February 2003
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: BS 2000: Part 15 (equivalent to ISO 3016)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
pour point
Melting / freezing pt.:
277 K
Remarks on result:
other: Stationary point
Melting / freezing pt.:
280 K
Remarks on result:
other: Pour Point
Conclusions:
The pour point of the test material has been determined to be 280±3 K
Executive summary:

The pour point was determined using BS 2000: Part 15 (equivalent to ISO 3016), Method 102 of the OECD Guidelines.

A sample of test material was poured into a test jar which was then enclosed in a glass jacket. The sample was heated to 46ºC in a water bath set at 48ºC before being allowed to cool in air to 35ºC. The sample was tranferred to a bath maintained at -1ºC to 2ºC and cooled to 10ºC, then transferred to a bath maintained at -18ºC to -15ºC. Starting at 16ºC and at intervals of 3ºC, the sample was tilted to a horizontal position for a period of 5 seconds, during which the sample was observed for signs of flow.

The pour point of the test material has been determined to be 280±3 K.

Pour Point: 280±3 K,

Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
01/2009
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM 57C
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Melting / freezing pt.:
> 5 - < 10 °C

Starting temperature: 26ºC

Final temperature: -60ºC

Rate: 1ºC/min

Conclusions:
The freezing point is 5-10ºC ± 0.5ºC
Executive summary:

The test material was performed according to the method ASTM 57C. The freezing point is 10 -5 ºC ± 0.5ºC.
