Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The toxicity of dineodymium tricarbonate to green algae was estimated via a data read across from dicerium tricarbonate. The dicerium tricarbonate 72-hr NOELR was determined to be 25 mg/L; the 72-hr EL50 was greater than 100 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
25 mg/L

Additional information

Toxicity of dineodymium tricarbonate to green algae was estimated using data from a similar substance, dicerium tricarbonate. The toxicity of analog substance dicerium tricarbonate to green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus was determined using serial dilutions of a 100 mg/L test item loading rate solution (1:2, 1:4, 1:8, 1:16, and 1:32). Bioassays were conducted according to EU C.3 (1992) and OECD 201 (2006) guidelines.

Dicerium tricarbonate had a statistically significant inhibitory effect on the growth of Scenedesmus subspicatus after the test period of 72 h first at the loading rate of 50mg/L. Thus, the 72h-NOELR was determined to be the loading rate of 25 mg/L. By constrast, the 72h-EL50 was > 100 mg/L.
