Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A defined melting point cannot be stated because of decomposition of neodymium carbonate starting at temperatures > 300 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

During the course of the experiment, neodymium carbonate began to decompose at approximately 300 °C. Heating caused the substance to change colour from light purple to light blue at approximately 580 °C. The decomposed test item (authors theorized this was neodymium oxide) didn't melt up to 1100 °C.
