Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
30 Oct - 13 Nov 2015
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: GLP-Guideline study
Qualifier:
according to
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. certificate)
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record. | Remarks: | Additional remarks: the test item could not be ignited in the preliminary test

Determination of the Burning Rate

Preparations before the Test:

The test item was loosely filled into a mould. Then the mould was dropped three times from a height of 2 cm onto a solid surface. The lateral limitations were removed and the excess substance was scraped off. A non-combustible and non-porous plate was placed on top of the mould. This was inverted and the mould removed.

Preliminary Test:

The pile was ignited with the flame (minimum diameter 5 mm) of a gas burner. The flame was applied to the end of the pile for two minutes. The test item was observed for a total of 4 minutes. The test item did not ignite.

Main Test:

As the test item could not be ignited in the preliminary test no further testing of the burning rate was required.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
The test item Dicalcium pyrophosphate (CAS 7790-76-3, EC 232-221-5) was used in its initial form. The test item could not be ignited. Therefore, the test item is considered to be not flammable.

Description of key information

Flammability: non flammable (EU Method A.10, GLP)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

The potential flammability of Dicalcium pyrophosphate (CAS 7790-76-3, EC 232-221-5) was evaluated in a study conducted according to EU Method A.10 and GLP (Wagner-Rivas, 2015). The test item Dicalcium pyrophosphate was used in its initial form.
The test item
could not be ignited. Therefore, the test item is considered to be not flammable.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data indicate that the substance does not meet the classification criteria in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).

CLP

Flammability: not classified

GHS
