Description of key information

The 96h LC50 of Disperse Blue 077 (FAT 40278/A) in the zebra fish acute toxicity test was determined to be 462.39 mg/L. The EC50 and EC100 values were found to be higher than 100 mg/L, in a short-term toxicity study with daphnids conducted with structurally similar Disperse Blue 054/077 according to OECD TG 202. Exposure of Disperse Blue 054/077 to Lemna minor did not produce any toxic effects at saturation concentration following 7-days exposure. The IC50 (3h) of Disperse Blue 077 (FAT 40278/A) to activated sludge was determined to be >400 mg/l. Based on the above details, it is evident that the LC50 values are >100 mg/L at all three trophic levels. Hence, Disperse Blue 077 can be considered as not toxic to the aquatic ecosystem.
