First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

Remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.

On skin contact:

Wash thoroughly with soap and water.

On contact with eyes:

Immediately wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

On ingestion:

Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: The most important known symptoms and effects are described in the labelling section 2 and/or in section 11 of the safety data sheet.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Symptomatic treatment (decontamination, vital functions).

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

water spray, dry powder, carbon dioxide, foam

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Burning produces harmful and toxic fumes.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.

Further information:

Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapour/aerosol/spray mists. Wear eye/face protection. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Information regarding personal protective measures see, section "Exposure Controls/Personal Protection".

Environmental precautions

Do not discharge into drains/surface waters/groundwater.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

For large amounts: Dike spillage. Pump off product.

For residues: Pick up with suitable absorbent material.

Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly with water and detergents, observing environmental regulations. Collect waste in suitable containers, which can be labeled and sealed. Incinerate or take to a special waste disposal site in accordance with local authority regulations.

Reference to other sections

Information regarding exposure controls/personal protection and disposal considerations can be found in section "Exposure Controls/Personal Protection" and "Disposal Considerations".

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Refill and handle product only in closed system. Provide good ventilation of working area (local exhaust ventilation if necessary). When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift.

Protection against fire and explosion:

The product is combustible. Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Suitable materials for containers: Low density polyethylene (LDPE), Galvanized carbon steel (Zinc), Stainless steel 1.4301 (V2), Stainless steel 1.4401, glass, High density polyethylene (HDPE)

Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed. Protect contents from the effects of light.

Specific end use(s)

For the relevant identified use(s) listed in Section 1 of the safety data sheet the advice mentioned in this section is to be observed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

Components with occupational exposure limits

No occupational exposure limits known.

PNEC

freshwater: 0.022 mg/l

intermittent release: 0.22 mg/l

marine water: 0.0022 mg/l

STP: 10 mg/l

sediment (freshwater): 0.341 mg/kg

sediment (marine water): 0.0341 mg/kg

soil: 0.0551 mg/kg

oral (secondary poisoning):

No PNEC oral derived, as accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

DNEL

No DNELs have been derived.

Exposure controls

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:

Respiratory protection in case of vapour/aerosol release. Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point >65 °C, e. g. EN 14387 Type A)

Hand protection:

Suitable chemical resistant safety gloves (EN 374) also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374): E.g. nitrile rubber (0.4 mm), chloroprene rubber (0.5 mm), butyl rubber (0.7 mm) etc.

Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.

Eye protection:

Tightly fitting safety goggles (splash goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Body protection:

Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).

General safety and hygiene measures

Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Wearing of closed work clothing is recommended. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. The substance was registered as a transported isolated intermediate. The manufacturer/importer has received the confirmation by the user that the substance is used under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Art. 18 of the REACH regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. When processing large amounts. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Store work clothing separately.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

No hazardous reactions if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Corrosion to metals:

Corrosive effects to metal are not anticipated.

Formation of flammable gases:       Remarks:       Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.

Chemical stability

The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

not determined

Conditions to avoid

Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame. Avoid light.

Incompatible materials

Substances to avoid:
